Dr. Aparna Nambiar is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore. She began training under Raka Maitra in 2009 and has worked alongside Chowk Production’s founding team since then to realize the company’s artistic vision. She received her doctorate in the Department of Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies at the University of California, Berkeley (2022) and has an M.A. in Performance Research and Theatre Studies from the Universities of Warwick and Amsterdam respectively. Prior to her foray into academia Aparna worked extensively with Bharatanatyam choreographer Santha Bhaskar at the National University of Singapore Centre For the Arts. Aparna has also worked as an arts programmer with the National University of Singapore Center For the Arts, Center for Contemporary Arts Singapore and the National Museum of Singapore.
