Mitu das  |  teacher, drummer, dancer

Initiated into dance as a Gotipua dancer at the age of five at under the direct supervision of his grandfather Padmashree Guru Maguni Das, Mitu has been training in Odissi ever since and was joined the Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya department of Odissi Dance as a professional dancer. He attained his bachelor’s degree in Odissi  under Guru Sri Lingaraj Pradhan at Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya while working as a senior dancer and performer at the “Shivaskshya Foundation” under Guru Smt. Sanjukta Dutta Pradhan. He has also trained under Guru Sri Lingaraj Pradhan and performing in his group for twelve years.

He is also a Mardal player and has trained under Guru Padmashree, Guru Sri Maguni Das, Guru Sri Sachidananda Das and Guru Sri Rabindra Das for 7 years.

Mitu has performed on numerous stages across India and won several awards such as Rajiv Gandhi Yuva Award; Nehru Award from Nehru Yava Kendra; BBSR, National Junior Scholarship by CCRT, New Delhi and the ‘B’ High Grade Artist of Doordarshan Kendra, Bhubaneswar.

Mitu joined Chowk in April 2024.
